why does my stereo cut out?
here is the problem
intermittently my stereo cuts out
i have
diamond audio d6 speakers
alpine cda 9851
kicker 3 channel amp
kicker 8 inch sub
monster 1 fd capicator.
what happens is as i am driving very intermittenly the sound will cut out and come back on as if the amp is turning on and off
my steps.
replaced amp....... still cuts out
i thought it might be the speaker grounding out so i removed each speaker and still cuts out.
replaced speakers..... still cuts out
i replaced the deck and it cut out once but has been fine for 3 weeks since.
i put my old deck back in and it cut out again.
i am thinking either the cap or the ground but i am pretty sure the ground is good. the cap came from my old car and the input and output are split off the top.
the ground i used 2 self tapping screws to hold it in.
oh yea the pac radio control doesnt seem to work well on this deck. it worked perfect on my other deck. i think i will just send the deck in for service.
any suggestions will by greatly appreciated

Make sure the internal 4- channel radio amps are turned off through the menu selection.
Alpines are notorious for overheating problems which can cause cut-off problems you experienced.
If you do not turn of the internal amps, regardless of using RCA's to drive your external amp(s), you are effectively driving the amps into an open load (ie NO speakers).
Read the manual, it will tell you how to turn off the internal amps. I think ALPINE and other aftermarket headunit manufacturers should have their units automatically switch between one or the other without having us to decide.

Also, the wiring of the sub may be a problem - is it dvc? Do you have it wired for ohms too low for the amp to handle?
Did I miss something, or did he say he has a Kicker amp?

ive checked the wires... individually remove each one and it still cuts out
rechecked the ground yesterday and its good.
sub is wired up correctly
it doesnt have to be hot to turn off. its just random..
all day yesterday night it was fine.
then this morning 2 minutes into driving it cut out

did you disable the interal amps in the HU?
it only takes a couple minutes for the unit to get to operating temp....I still think you need to first and foremost disable the internal amp. You never confirmed that so we can't help you further.
I bet this will mitigate your problem.
