Will a '99 Civic Si stereo work in a '99 Civic LX?
Hello,
Can anyone tell me if the factory stereo from a '99 Civic Si will work in a '99 Civic LX using only the existing wiring? I know nothing about this type of thing so please pardon the ignorance.
Quick background:
A friend just bought a '99 Civic LX with only an AM/FM tuner. She wants to replace it with a factory CD player. We haven't found one for sale from a '99 LX, but we have found a seller offering the stock CD player from a '99 Si. Just curious if this would work.

My '99 Civic EX coupe stereo wouldn't fit in my sister's '98 Civic LX sedan - different dash configurations and rear connections. The '99 coupe had A/C arranged vertically on the left, and a head unit and CD holder stack in the middle. The '98 sedan had the head unit on top, and the A/C arranged horizontally below. After the dealer told me they were interchangable, I got both dashes disassembled before finding out the rear harnesses were incompatible.
The '99 DX, HX and EX coupes all had the same dash and presumably the same rear connection, but i'm not sure about the '00 Si or about '99 sedans, but I think they're the same as well.

PS-I also know from experience that changing the stereo out of the '99 civic is a huge pain in in the a$$, so keep that in mind.
