Windshield trim removal
I'd like to install my Passport 8500 (hardwired) power plug behind the windshield trim. Problem is, I don't have any idea how to disassemble the trim to accomplish the job.
I'm sure it's not rocket surgery, but it would help to see a diagram or two. Does anyone have a resource they could direct me towards to pull the sun visors, interior lamp cover, windshield trim, and any other parts and pieces to accomplish this job?
Thanks a million.

80+ views & no ideas?
I wasn't looking for a step-by-step from the forum (that would be nice though). I was really looking for a REFERENCE to do the job.
Is anyone aware of a shop manual or other reference that would include exploded diagrams of how the windshield trim, etc. comes apart, and more importantly; how it goes back together???

Go to H and A (a sponsor on this forum). Download a copy of the installation instructions for the hard top. It goes into detail how to remove all the stuff you're talking about. The hard top install requires access to the top latch mechanism. These are the same parts you need removed. Or buy the Helm service manual (Helminc.com).
FWIW-
I installed my Valentine One beside the rearview mirror and ran the wire between the plastic trim and the windshield. No disassembly was required. The gap is large enough to insert the wire and once inserted it's secure. Once you have the wire run to the point where the A-pillar meets the dash you can easily route the wire through the dash. There is a plastic panel there that is very flexible at the corner where the A-pillar dies into the dash. Once through that it's a staight shot down to the fuse box.
Hope this helps.....wish I had some pic's but it's pretty simple once you check it out.
Thanks

Thanks Mack & xviper,
I used a little help from each of you. The diagram from H & A was what I wanted to see, just in case there was a "hidden" clip, aside from the visor and lamp screws.
I took both visors off, and removed the lamp housing which allowed enough give in the trim to pull the weather stripping up (from the upper left edge of the windshield frame to just abeam the rear view mirror) and then dropped the wire in between the trim and the frame. I ended up mounting the Passport just below rear view mirror with enough room to easily reach the controls on top. I brought the wire throught the front, between the trim and the windshield.
The rest of the wire worked in between the weatherstrip and left side of the windshield frame without any trouble.
The only remaining problem is that the 12VDC plug on the fuse box is a male fitting...so is the plug on the Passport hardwire kit. Doh!
Not a problem, just have to make a trip to Radio Shack for a female/female adapter I guess. It would help is I knew what size that plug is, anyone know?
Also, I think I read on the forum that the forward-most plug is switched (the forward most of the three "blanks", closest to the left fender, or, left side of the fuse block opposite the accessory fuses). Does anyone know that for sure?
Thanks for all the help -

Ironwedge, since you can't use the plug on the Passport anyway, just cut it off and take it with you to R.S. to match. Re: the fuse box, I can't remember for sure. Take a continuity lite or voltmeter to check. One is always hot, one is hot with ignition, and the 3rd is hot with the dash lites. Good luck.
