Wired DCI issue with plug and play harness
I installed my new Alpine CD105 head unit last night along with the plug and play Modifry harness and wired DCI.
The cables weren't long enough from the amp/sub etc so could not hook those up but still had the head unit powering the door component speakers.
The DCI would not work besides the mute function however.
Speakers actually sounded much better than with my Eclipse head unit even without the amp powering them for some reason. Not sure if it was installed incorrectly last time.
Anyways I was messing around with it today trying to get the DCI to work. None of the buttons did anything. I set the dci for Alpine and even tried all possible comobos of the buttons to no avail.
I unplugged the white clip from the dci while the radio was on and that immediately shut the cd player off. It will not go back on now no matter what!
I replaced both the fuse on the back of the cd players and the fuse in the cabin fuse box but neither made any difference.
Any ideas as to what is wrong here?
I emailed Modifry but they don't give you a phone number to call unfortunately.

Bob is really good at checking emails and getting back to people
I had some similiar issues. It ended up that the DCI was bad. Check the voltages on the DCI...i believe his website has a trouble shooting section.

Shouldn't the head unit still work if I disconnect the dci part and just have the plug and play harness into the radio? Or maybe it would be that the wiring for that is messed up or something. Biggest concern now is that my whole cd player will not turn on at all!
I am trying to remember. I believe that happened to me as well. Go back to all the original wiring and leave the DCI out. Still does not work? So you changed the fuse on the radio, and in the fuse box for the radio? Just double check no other fuses got blown.
This happened a few years ago, so I will try to remember what it ended up being.

Well the DCI I have is the wired DCI and I got the plug and play harness so the wiring is connected to that harness so can't unplug the wiring. I can disconnect the dci itself from the plug but that has not worked.
Yes replaced both of those fuses with new ones. They both looked fine when I replaced them though.
Is there any other fuse that can be blown from the radio?

For some reason im thinking the 12v socket. Check that one as well. Do a systems check and make sure all other systems inside are working properly. Dash lights etc.
Does the CD player have a reset button?

Ok I'll check that. Yeah all other lights work the same in the car. Just the stereo won't turn on at all. It shut off the second I unclipped the white connecter from the DCI.
I looked for some sort of a reset from the cd player but no luck. I left it disconnected for 30+ minutes which didn't help either.

I tested the power and the harness plugged into the cd player shows power but none show power to the DCI. CD player will not turn on at all and does not get warm at all either.
IF there is no power to the DCI then I believe it is faulty (bad voltage regulator I think). May require you to ship it back to Bob. That is what was wrong with mine. He kindly and quickly replaced it free of charge.
If you have the DCI plugged into the harness, does the CD player turn on and work? I understand the controls probably wont.

Wired DCI Troubleshooting
Measure current draw - The DCI draws about 12ma (0.012 amps) when powered up and idle, so if you measure the current by inserting an ammeter in series with the DCI red wire that will give you a good idea if it's working. If the reading is near 0ma, either you don't have power or the DCI is bad. Current readings above 20ma usually indicate a bad DCI.
On Sony head units you have to be careful how you plug the 3.5mm stereo connector into the back of the head unit. It's easy to get it "almost seated" and that causes all kinds of problems with the DCI - from nothing working to intermittent functions and strange behavior. On the Sony head unit's I've seen there is a metal boss around the jack and if your DCI has a right-angle plug it only fits correctly in one position - with the wire facing up. So double-check the plug if you have a Sony head unit.
There's not much more you can do to troubleshoot a wired DCI. You can't measure the output on the stereo plug because the readings aren't valid unless it's plugged into the head unit, which means you can't measure it without cutting into the cable, which is not recommended.
