I had to use a knife and trim away some of the plastic plug of the 3.5mm jack. Without doing this, the plug did not fit into the HU.

Ok cool I'll double check the red wire in the dci again. That is what I checked earlier and didn't get any reading from it. With the DCI connected or disconnected I cannot get the radio to even turn on. As soon as I unplugged that white clip from the DCI the cd player shut off and I have been unable to get it to turn on again.

If I were you, I'd pull the radio out, unhook the Modifry harness, then try hooking the red and yellow wires from the deck's wiring to +12V and the black wire to ground. It doesn't get any simpler than that...if it still won't turn on, it's most likely dead. I wouldn't think unplugging the DCI while it was on would cause it to die, but who knows.

If you don't have a 12V power supply, you can hook directly to your battery since the head unit should have fuses on its red and yellow wires. Still, be very careful not to let any wire running from the + terminal on the battery touch anything.

I have the cd player out of the car now. So is it definitely both the red and yellow cables I would touch to the battery? And then just ground the black wire?

Yes, red is switched power, yellow is battery and black is ground.

Ok cool. I'll give that a shot tomorrow. That's how all cd players are?

All of the Alpine receivers are pretty much the same. I can't speak for other brands.

Ok cool. Thanks for the help. I check tomorrow if the head unit will power on that way.

It should, and if it doesn't, you will know the problem.

There are two fuses in the underdash fusebox for the headunit, so make sure you
check them both. In an AP1, they are #9 & #22 - I'm not sure if an AP2 is the same.
