Wired DCI Question
I purchased Modifry's Wired DCI for a Sony HU and there is a LONG green wire coming out of the connector that plugs into the HU. (This wire is probably 4 ft long; the other wires are a few inches.) There is a label on the wire that says "PARKING BRAKE".
I've looked through all of the instructions, and I don't see this wire on any of the DCI schematics, or described anywhere in the instructions.
I assume that I should splice the wire into one of the parking brake wires, but my question is - what does this wire do, and does it have to be connected? (For example, I'm not going to use the Speed Volume Control feature, so I don't need to connect the gray wire.)
My best guess is that it's a wire that is hot only when the accessories are on, but I think there is already a green wire in the harness that does that.

Figured it out. The wire is part of the HU, not the DCI.
Sony has a lockout on the screen, so you can't play video unless the parking brake is on.
I'm wondering if I can attach this wire to a positive lead that is hot when the accessories are switched on. Then, video should play all the time. (I hope.)

I have an AVIC-D1 that disables Nav functions, video playback while the vehicle's running, and I grounded the parking brake wire to make them functional all the time.

I think you have to GROUND the wire.
Evidently, some HUs need a switch on the ground wire, but my Sony didn't.
That makes the install easier, and the video screen works all the time.
I don't want to watch the screen while I'm driving, but I don't want to (have to) put the hand brake, either.
Thanks to all for the info!
