Default Parking Brake Sensor wire for new HU

I just purchased a Kenwood KIV-701 head unit and also the Modifry plug-n-play harness and the DCI module to go in my 01 AP1. I just need to splice a green and white wire into the parking brake sensor wire in order to use video when the parking brake is up. Is this located behind the passenger side dash, and is it green and white also? Also, is there a way to wire it so I can use the video whenever I want, even while driving? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Does it say whether to splice it before or after the switch? I'm not sure if it's looking for 12V at that wire, or if it's looking for the wire to be grounded. If its looking for the wire to be grounded (asks to splice it in BEFORE the switch) you could essentially splice it into any ground. However, if it's looking for 12v (asks to splice it AFTER the switch) then I would just splice it in with one of the 12v power lines for the radio to make it easy.

The wire that needs to be spliced into the break signal wire is a safety thing. I had one in my old car for my old double-din Pioneer. There are 2 ways that I know of that you can bypass this problem. The signal cannot have constant power, otherwise it will know that it is just looped and the video feature will never work (I tried). You can either run the wire through a relay that delays the signal sent to the head unit through the line, or you can do what I did, which was run it through a constant power source, but put an interrupter in the line (in my case, I just used a toggle switch). So whenever I wanted to watch a video, just hit the toggle switch on and it would tell the head unit that the e-brake was on.

Not every head unit requires a toggle switch. I believe most (or all?) kenwoods don't require it. Not every head unit uses programming to prevent a bypass, even though yours did. Now this particular unit looks for the wire to be grounded. So looking for "power" isn't what it does, nor do you want to connect it to constant power obviously. Simply splicing it with the units ground wire should work. If this unit happens to be different from most kenwoods, you can add in the toggle switch mentioned, but I don't believe that will be an issue.

^ Yup, Kenwoods are just straight ground. Pioneer's actually have a few different ways for video bypass. On an AV unit with no Nav, usually it has to not read ground when the unit is initially powered on, then grounded after a few seconds. On the Nav Unit's, if the GPS detects that you are moving more than 5mph, it will automatically shut off video feed. Alpine has one of the most ridiculous ones right now. There is a parking brake input, a foot brake input, and a sequence that has to be done in order to bypass video.

My Alpine required an entire module that mimics all the above three things. The most annoying thing ever.

I believe it's a PAC TR-7, IIRC. It's a great thing (once you get it programmed)!
