Default WTF!? Is this stock...

When I hit the mute button all the speakers but the one behind the passanger head rest shut off. Is this stock... Are there supposed to be speakers behind the passanger head rest? Are there ones behind the driver one as well? I can't see them so im guessing they're hidden...

I have a 2001 btw...

Not Stock - need more info.

Most likely you can tilt your seats forward and see some speakers mounted in the panes behind the seats. Probably can not hear the one behind you but it is there.

Your 2001 HU has secondary channels that were originally not used. The previous owner used these channels for another set of speakers. Most people used them for rear panel speakers. Unfortunately, these second channels are not hooked up to the mute feature. In order to have the "rear" channels mute, those speakers had to have been hooked up using "Lucid's" plug and play rear speaker harness, which incorporates a HU shut off circuit when the mute button is pushed.

No, they aren't stock.

Sorry, my mistake. The info I edited out won't help you.

[QUOTE=xviper,Mar 14 2006, 12:44 AM] Looks like someone retrofitted the OEM headrest speakers in your car.
