XM experts -- XM and the 04 and 05 headunit
Hi,
I have an 04 s2000 headunit for my 2000 and i am trying to add XM. I can add honda's tuner for $400.. BUT i have also seen a couple of posts in this forum where people talk about using the terk XM direct tuner and adaper (each are 49.00 for a total of 100.00). see http://www.terk.com/xmdirect/index.html for more informaiton.
I called terk today and they don't know if the adapter will plug into the s2000 fact 04 radio... i have read posts where two different people ordered the adapter, but i don't see confirmation that they got it to work or not.
does anyone have the pinout for the honda 14 pin connector so we can figure out what would be required to make this work for our cars.
All i'm after is XM for my car using the fact HU while being able to see the station on the HU display... Does anyone know how or if the terk products do this out of the box or can be made to do this.. or do you have another method besides the factory route. LET'S FIGURE THIS OUT.. TOGETHER.
Thanks
tom

Terk doesn't (yet?) make an adapter for the Honda OEM plug. They have 'em for BMW and GM and will soon have them for Chrysler and Ford.
Strangely enough, the adapter cables for OEMs are waaaaay more expensive than the adapter cables for aftermarket headunits. Those are $49; the BMW and GM are north of $200. So even if they were to make a Honda one, I'm not sure it would be any cheaper than the Honda OEM solution.
The key is to figure out the pins and home-brew something to plug into the XM Direct tuner box. Or just get the Alpine, Kenwood, Sony or Pioneer adapters for $49, and figure out how to match their pins to the Honda OEM pins.
The Roady2 is an excellent, excellent unit and I've got an extra one I'm using in the S, for now. However, I'm going to go the Honda OEM box route, because, I dunno, I just don't want the extra thing in the cabin, even though it is super tiny. For those who ARE interested in Roady2s, Commanders, SkyFi2s, or MyFis, you can always send me PM, I've got access to some nice deals.
