Default XM radion on S2K?

Hello S2Ki,

I am curious to see who has XM radio on their cars and how it looks? I have a 2007 and the dealer quoted me close to $800 for the parts + install!!!

So if i drop close to 800 bucks i want to see what it looks like and how it works in the car.

So any info, pictures, etc would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you,

Pearlcoupeg35

There's really nothing to see. There's a giant antenna on the trunk lid and the xm unit is mounted under the rear deck.

It works good but take that 800$ and buy an Alpine deck + XM and you would save $, get better equipment and have a smaller antenna. Prob. integrate Ipod too.

The tuner is actually mounted behind the seats in the spare tire area.... not under the front of the deck. Just an FYI.

Thanks guys! So is the antenae big and ugly? Are aftermarket ones better looking (smaller)??? Also, is the antenae color matched?

Also, is there any visable equipment in the 'cockpit' of the car or on the dash or is it all hidden?

Thanks!

Yes factory is color match, but you will have to drill a hole into the trunk. Yes aftermarket are smaller and can be mounted on the front dash. Everything is hidden. I would go with aftermarket. 800 is to much for just xm.

It is not color matched. As you can see in your own url you posted that it is a silver color.

I was thinking of purchasing an oem tuner and seeing if I can hook up a regular xm mini antenna to it with a 2 wire to one wire adapter. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to see a picture of a factory S2000 tuner yet.

I have also see an adapter that allows you to plug into the factory plug and it converts it to pioneer ip bus wire. This allows you to run a pioneer cd changer/xm tuner or both. I may just buy this and may be a great choice for you pearlg35.

I think if they install it at time of manufacturing it's color matched. I've seen both color matched and silver on local cars.
