Default XM vs. SIRIUS

OK. So, plain and simple... which one is the best to go with and why?

Over time....XM, now Sirius. XM has more customers and the future of Sirius is uncertain. XM is going to launch 2 more sats and their service will be prety much fullproof. (I have XM)

XM just announced at CES that they are going back to no commercials. I believe this starts next month.

I just signed-up for XM this week having purchased the Delphi Roady. XM has 1.3 million customers to Sirius few hundred thousand. The receivers you can buy for XM seem quite a bit better than those currently available for Sirius. Programming comes down to personal taste I suppose. I am sure both are close.

I expect XM to continue to improve and do so faster than Sirius. Not even 1/2 of XM's current stations have commercials, and as mentioned, even those will be gone shortly.

Also, XM is currently $3 cheaper per month than Sirius. I have not heard that they are going to increase cost based on no commercials.

According to the releases XM just made they are also going to add several new channels.
Do this, "Sound and Vision mag." did a review on the contents (programing) of both systems. Grab a copy from your local library and read it. Then find a store with both or one and listen to what they broadcast. The technical coverage is one thing but what is on the air is what appeals to you the consumer. Lastly XM has a web site where the programing is listed and I bet Serius does also, check it out, you might preffer one over the other. I went with XM because 1. one more classical channel, 2. up first with more subscribers, 3. cost less. Listed with the more importent first. The funny thing is i almost never listen in the car, I operate the delphi XM on my workbench at work into headphones, the output is actually almost too high to listen to using headphones.

Sirius all the way.

The whole point for satellite radio, to me at least, is NO commercials...and XM still has commercials on some of its more popular station..that is total crap.

First of all, commercials last like 20-30 seconds. Second, those tiny commercials keep the monthly costs down and result in more money for improvement. Finally, If Sirius went out of business, you would be stuck with about 500 bucks worth of equipment that you cant use. (i paid about 500 for my HU and XM tuner)
