Is XM worth it?
correction: my buddy has xm here in texas and it is pretty cool... HOWEVER IT DOES HAVE COMMERCIALS ON NEARLY EVER STATION WORTH LISTENING TO.
I waited a couple of days to reply to this post because it aggravated me. I figured it might bother me less after a couple of days. Well... it still bothers me for several reasons. First is you don't have XM yet speak as an authority and second you speak in generalities both of which add little to this thread. People use this forum to educate themselves on a variety of subjects and replies like this don't help. I have had XM for over a year. I listen to channels 25, 34, 44, 45, 81, 110, 115, 116, 150, and 151, and I have NEVER heard a commercial with the exception of an occasional plug for XM by the DJs. So based on your reply should I infer that alternative rock, comedy, rock, kids channels, pop and classical music are all not worth listening to and that the other ninety stations have commercials and that I just so happened to pick all the stations without commercials? I don't think so. Whew ... I feel better now.

Well I finally got my system installed last week and YES, XM is definitely worth it! I haven't heard one single commercial yet. Just good non-stop music or news or comedy or whatever.
Mine is hidden inside right underneath the rear deck tray. You can gain access to it from behind the passenger seat panel. It works very well there IMO. I do lose reception around high buildings or heavily wooded areas. But overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the install and I much rather have it hidden then exposed on my trunk deck for all to see that I have an aftermarket system.
i did not expect to upset anyone by just stating the fact that nearly every xm station does in fact have commercials. and when i say my buddy has had it for months, I in fact CAN say something seeing as how we hang out a lot and; and very often in his car, listening to xm. I simply wanted to inform people of the truth, and if that upsets you I am sorry. I still think XM is worth buying, and in fact I am about to do so, however many people are not aware that this so called "commercial free digital radio" is not commercial free. It's more like low-fat milk instead of fat free milk. true it still has some fat(commercials), yet it is a vast improvement over normal milk in cutting out the fat. So again, sorry if you were upset, I just wanted to inform people, which is what this board is all about.
