Any improvement with Hondata flashpro stock map?
I'm considering getting flashpro for my '09. my car is stock except for exhaust and HFC. I may eventually do an an e-tune, but for the time being I will probably just run the stock basemap. any concerns with doing this? I know that the peaks gains are nill but im interested in the lower vtec engagement, and higher rev limit.
For those who run the "stock" map, how do you like it? TIA

I think you mean the "stock tune" reflash. It improves it a little bit. I still have a lot to learn about the Flashpro. I ran the Toda header tune with just a K&N intake and HFC and it is an AMAZING DIFFERENCE. I don't know if I was running too rich, so didn't keep it on that one until I install a header. But some people believe that the Toda reflash has more to do with the test pipe than the header itself. The HFC is somewhere between the TP and OEM cat. So if you get a decent aftermarket header you will be able to run a more aggressive tune with the HFC and exhaust. I would also get an intake. For now I am running the tune with the intake (I think it says Injen intake). Read up gernby's posts about soft dynos. He has a lot of info on the flashpro and tuning with TP, HFC, and exhausts.

Thats the beauty of the FlashPro, you get that first....then you use it to optimize your other mods.
It is worth having by itself. That being said, it's worth getting an e-tune done. It really improved the driveability of mine. If you add other mods after the initial e-tune, most will retune you for a small fee.

I was the first S2000 they did, and I'm here to tell you....my car is worlds apart from where it started.

Make sure that whatever you do choose you do some logging with it and make sure there isn't too much knock.
For me when I got it I was just running a TP and had 0 knock on the original factory tune. Toda reflash had a small amount of knock between 3-4000rpm at part throttle and the "stock" tune was the worst and had a lot more part throttle knock over a larger rpm spread. It was fine at high rpm WOT.

Yes you will feel a huge improvement over the stock base map with the canned tunes. But it's best to get it dynoed by a good tuner. My tuner got over 30lbs tq and +30 whp in the mid. I gained significant tq in the lower end 3-4k. I got 135 lbs in that area. And a good tuner will get rid of that dip when vtec hits. My dyno plot is linear. Get all the mods you need and tune. Do it right once cus dyno tuning isn't cheap
