Default is a ap2 ecu pnp for an apt

i was wondering if anyone has swapped an ap2 ecu into there ap1 so you would be able to tune it? very curious on my options so i can be able to tune right now i have a 01 ap1 with a 03 ecu

Original AP2 is not flashable. I assume you mean the 06 and later AP2 ECU that IS flashable and the answer is basically NO. You cannot use it as it is set up for Drive by Wire throttle technology, stablity control,etc and there would be extensive and expensive changes to make the car compatible.

so basicially the best route to go is to get a piggyback ecu.. i want to get a tune but im not running anything serious right now just a ct engineering icebox and exhaust but i have a 68mm skunk 2 tb on the way and ive read its really not worth it unless you have a tune and ive also heard it can cause problems with out one done

for an ap1 ecu i think you can, after a lot of work, chip it or something. AP2's from 04-05 cannot be flashed. 06+ can be tuned with a piggyback system. Best bet would be to get a stand alone ECU to tune on.
