Default Best ECU for n/a (eventualy FI)

I have a 2002 and i am trying to figure out which ECU would be best to get for the current NA setup i have, and the fact that i eventually want to go to FI. I have spent a while reading up and seeing what various ECUs can do and cant do, and it seems like everyone says either FlashPro or AEM v1 or v2. But honestly, there are such odd little differences and tuning is definately not my strong suit so i wonder which would be a good choice?

I want to make my setup as safe as possible, and retain as much user friendliness (temp on the dash, etc) as possible. Also, is there any way to retain the CEL in case of issues or is that just hopeless?

thanks for info, and i know there are hundreds of posts, but most are geared towards one or the other and have alot more opinion that fact.

You wont be able to use FlashPro as your car isn't an AP2. The best options for you considering you want to go FI in the future are the Hondata Kpro or an AEM EMS.

why aem v1 instead of v2? and my bad, i meant kpro, i was thinking pro and just put it.

EDIT: i heard that kpro was kinda buggy or something, theres and entire thread slamming hondata for the issues, and something about you cant adjust alot of things and its a "crap shoot" for tuning.

ill look for the post and add a link here

lol 3 posts down
https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/854...ge__mode__show

seems like more people voted kpro but farther down they slam it

"KPRO is a great system, but I can forsee Hondata employees going on a killing rampage one day"

makes me wanna buy it...

Do you have emissions in your area?

If so, haltech or kpro, dash will act like stock.

If not and trying to go cheap, aem v1 and modifry fix for dash temp.

I live in south carolina, car is not my daily driver, and there are no emissions checks.
I cant find anything about haltech, even from their website.
Kpro seems to be interesting, but idk.
whats wrong the aem v1?

I cant seem to find definitive differences that would really swing one towards any of them? What are the pros and cons?

nothing is wrong the the v1 aem.. you just have to get the modifry box to make the coolant temp gauge work on the dash.

really though, get what you can find a good tuner in your area for. they are all useless in the hands of a monkey

not any good tuners in my area to be honest. I have to take my car to AV engineering down in charleston or Top Dead Center in greenville, unless anyone knows of a tuner worth a crap around Columbia, SC, i live in columbia.

Any of those retain the oem CEL codes?
What would yall pick and why?

i am 1 hour 40 minutes away from concord, NC. Is there a shop there?
I am 1 hour 47 minutes away from AV Engineering

I want to decide on an ECU, go ahead and get it and get it tuned, that way i can pick up my gauge(s?) aswell (plx multi display) and get them all installed, setup, and tuned, then when i get my car (and wallet) to where it needs to be for boost i can take it back and get it retuned etc. I will also probably end up getting an engine build because id rather wait and do it right than rush into it like my GS-R, that wasnt fun.
