Is it glowing red while the air pump is running to heat up the catalytic converter?

So in this case it could be extra fuel detonating in the header? In that case, I have never seen that!

99% of the time, if the header is glowing red (and you are not holding it at WOT on a loading dyno) then you dont have enough timing, rarely is it due to a fuel issue.

Does the air pump really heat the exhaust up that much? I have never really looked into the effects of the air pump.

To elaborate further if you don't have enough timing then all the fuel doesn't have enough time to burn so the valve opens and releases the energy to the exhaust. Is that what you are saying?

I have no airpump in my car right now. I'm running Hondata Kpro in my car.

right, the fuel is still burning as its going out the exhaust valves.

I don't know if it does, but it seems not to be an issue for this case anyway.

Since you don't have an air pump, then you know the heat is coming from the cylinder, so I would be worried about burning an exhaust valve.

I find it weird that only one cylinder is doing this, even weirder is that it's at idle. Has to be something related to that specific cylinder.

I'd quess it's a mechanical problem(ITB related) sense only one cylinder is doing it and the injectors and plugs are fine. Is that one TB open/closed as much as the others?

Also the air pump heats the exhaust up, then shuts off. So even if he still had it, it's irrelevant.

I had the air pump disconnected in my car with the stock manifold and I didn't have these problems. My buddy, whom owns an rx7 shop (which is totally irrelevant) suggested hooking up a vacuum gauge. I attached a vacuum gauge to one of the itb runners and the vacuum gauge went crazy. So maybe this is a vacuum leak or the manifold is not sitting flush with my head?
