Default Decel Popping/Lean mixture

So.. again my setup

- EDM MY08 (F20C DBW)
- Giles eManage Ultimate BADAS Black (with wideband feedback)
- ASM 07 Header
- Berk HFC
- Tanabe Concept-G exhaust
- NGK 1step colder plugs (OEM Gap)
- Okada Coilpack

When I open the throttle (cruising) the A/F is somewhere around 13-14ish values

When decelerating the A/F goes very much to the lean side (20ish). And the exhaust does the usual "Harley Davidson Style" popping (mild-normal one.. no explosions or flames involved)

Should I consider it normal? (I'm concerned because of the car going that lean in decel). I know that we should expect that the injectors are not working when the throttle is closed, but somehow I expected the ECU/eManage to compensate it by keeping them open a bit longer..

My psychic diagnosis is you are getting some air into our exhaust system allowing the lean over run mixture to ignite.

Do you headers have slider joints or are there any leaks through flange joints?

I do not get any pops at full throttle and just some pops at middle throttle (from time to time). Most of the pops are just in decel (but not exagerated.. my car sound like most of the tuned cars over there)

We did change all the gaskets when we installed the header, HFC and the eManage (header to engine, header to HFC and HFC to exhaust) we even changed the header to engine bolts.. so I am almost confident that there's no leak...

I've grown to LOVE the gurgles and pops that my exhaust makes while engine braking.

The injectors shut off during decel, the AF reading is completely normal. All cars do this

^^^ I agree

You're just pumping air when in gear and decel.

My exhaust doesn't make any popping sound under deceleration

The EMU is not as vigilant as OEM when turning off the injectors on throttle off. I have run my car (with a WBO2 in place) and while it takes less than 1/2 a second to go full lean according to the WBO2 without the piggyback, it takes 1-2 seconds with the EMU in place.

It's just one of many warts of the EMU solution.
