Default Does the AEM EMS Eliminate stock O2 Sensors?

I have googled and Googled the entire interent and keep getting mixed answers. I need the answer specific for the s2k.

Once I install my AEM EMS and a Wideband O2, can I eliminate my stock O2 sensors? Just unplug and tie them off?

I only ask because my new exhaust setup only has a single O2 Port in the downpipe at the moment. Ill install the wideband there and will not need any additional bungs if I dont use my stock O2 sensors at all.

Thanks !

From what I understand they are connected but it doesn't do anything with it. It won't throw a cel so you could remove them both. Using a wideband (aem or non) with 5v output it can be enabled and used by the aem and for datalog purposes.

I believe the install involves pushing the stock sensor pins out of the harness and splicing new pin from the wideband into the harness (ems comes with additional pins and aux plug)

Sounds right. I am either going with the 1052U or the Series 2 (Comes down to whichever I get a deal on first). So either the wideband will be internal as on the 1052U or Ill just run the UEGO Gauge and external sensor.

Sweet, thanks. Can anyone else confirm?

Yes the stock o2's are not used at all. As stated, the wideband is spliced into the stock o2 wire on the harness. Thats definitive!

Good luck!! Try pm'ing LJ(s/n FullBlown) for the low prices on your aem stuff!

They're popular because you can find the used for cheap. When the time rolled around, I couldn't find one, so I ended up getting the Series 2 instead. Probably a good choice anyways.

I'm only running a slighlty modified greddy setup to the 1052u is all I really need, not to mention id like to run only a single serial gauge for both boost and af. With ther series 2 it costs more, plus I need an external wideband. But really comes down to what's availiable when I buy.

Somewhat related question – I noticed that all of AEM’s UEGO controllers include a weld-in adapter bung for the wideband sensor. Is the weld-in adapter required or will this thread right into the existing O2 sensor hole?

Thanks in advance…

my UEGO replaced my stock primary o2 on the header. no welding was needed. need to wire/solder in the UEGO o2 sensor/controller to the EMS though.

For future searches... I have now 100% confirmed that When the 1052 Paired with a UEGO (Or other) Wideband with the sensor wire swapped into the C16 pin of the blue harness on your ECU. (Originally the OEM Primary 02 sensor). You DO NOT in FACT use either of your OEM Sensors.

I am running 100% entirely on just my UEGO.

the BEST way to accomplish this on a non UEGO 1052 is to unpin C16 on the blue harness and soulder a pin to the UEGO sensor wire and replace it into the C16. Then simply go into AEMPRO and select "VIEW> Wizards> Primary 02?" and select the applicable sensor.

You WILL have to adjust the gain. To do this UNPLUG the sensor (My UEGO was .5v-4.5v) and adjust the gain until your paremeters shows the primary 02 sensor reading 4.5v +/- .1v. (My gain is set at something along the lines of .85 or so IIRC.

Reconnect the Sensor, save the map and you SHOULD be game.
