ECU Q In Relation To RTA
Okay so I am a little confused about what to do in this situation. I want to do some modifcations to my vehicle and tune it but it is a 2001 AP1 S2000. So my problem is that need to tune my ECU but according to RTA rules for Enthusiast states this:
Fontana Nissan Enthusiast Class
The Enthusiast Class has modification limitations and is intended for relatively "stock" vehicles. Basic Performance Upgrades (BPUs) are permitted, like Cold Air Intakes, Headers, Exhaust Systems, Brake Upgrades, Suspension Upgrades, Etc. Competing in Enthusiast Class is a great way to get started in Time Attack racing for those who are interested!
Modifications Allowed:
Engine Mods: Stock Block Must be used, no aftermarket forced induction allowed. Allowed: Camshaft upgrades, Intake, MAF, Intake Manifold, Header, Exhaust, etc.
Suspension: Up to 2-Way Adjustable Coilovers
Brakes: Open
Tires: Any High Performance Street Tire with a tread wear of 140 or higher
Unique to the Class: All window glass must be present, catalytic converters are required, vehicle must be registered with DMV, Vehicle MUST be driven by the registered owner, use of carbon/composite body panels is not allowed, aero upgrades are not allowed, professional drivers are not allowed

If you read the full rules it states this:
(page 33)
3-1.14 OEM ECU must be utilized with no external additions. The OEM ECU may be
reprogrammed.
Right so here is my problem. I cant do standalone or piggy back. But I can flash it. So is there a way to replace ap1 ecu with ap2 06+ and then retune it?

Looks to me like it just says "OEM ECU", Not "The vehicles OEM ECU". The S2000 K-Pro is just a reprogramed "OEM ECU" with no external modifications (all mods remain within the box) in my book. You just have to have the "Formula 1" mentality when reading rules. Whether it passes or not is another matter, but I think this is a valid arguement especially since the K-Pro and the FlashPro have very similay capabilities.

K-PRO is NOT an OEM ecu it is modified internally by hondata. It would be no different than putting an M800 ecu in the OEM box and calling it an OEM ecu.
THANKS GUYS! ^_^
Ya Ethusiast class is a bit tricky. Most by buddys say just go with street tire class or modified class. But I figured this be the best way to start and not have to much wasted if I decided I suck and go another route.......besides, HAVE YOU SEEN THOSE GUYS? Ya, im not at their skill level and most are shops who have lots of ad.
Thanks for the information though. I suppose your right. I guess Imma just have to try it and see what works. Otherwise, gotta break the bank for a C/R which is a last last dead ditch option....

I know its been awhile but I'd wanted to give an update!
I finally got a response from Redline Time attack in a email which said:
(Richard,
Since the RSX ecu is an OEM ecu, you are able to use it
You are also allowed to use ITB's on your engine.
Nikolas)
Just wanted to let everyone know, this is for enthu. class of course!
