can i use the base map to break in the car after rebuilding the engine almost to stock OEM specs??

 

The aem base map is a pretty rough estimate map. You will run very rich, drivability won't be very good and your fuel economy will suck. It's pretty easy to tune an N/A car once you figure out how it all works. Pretty much follow what jh4db said and you should have a half decent map

 

The AEM base map was actually dyno tuned by a well known tuner... It is rough in places (the fuel trims need a lot of work), but is a great place to start. You will be fine running a near-OEM setup with it.

I found the AP1 base map ran lean on an AP2 (not surprising). 10% more fuel and it was spot on. The fuel economy was in the high 20's.

With that said, I didn't find great fuel economy and smooth/consistent low-load tuning until I went boost comp. The extra resolution offered by boost comp is very nice.
