Flashpro: VTEC Crossover change not working anymore..?
For whatever reason my Flashpro-lowered VTEC crossover point (3600rpm) is no longer being acknowledged. Background info:
I logged some runs to send to Gernby since I figured I need a re-tune due to the altitude change anyway, and am waiting for info from him on what we need to tweak. The Super Bowl is somewhat of a blowout so thought I'd write a message here as well, in case the resolution could help someone else. Any thoughts?
- I recently moved from Chicago to Denver.
- VTEC crossover is set at 3600, via a great Tune that Gernby completed for me.
- Gas here is only 91 octane, compared to 93 in IL.
- Altitude is 5000 feet higher here in Denver compared to Chicago.

Altitude. He should be able to re calibrate the tune to work for the altitude your at. Unfortunately thats means you may have have to go through the whole data logging process again.

So much for that blowout huh?lol Anyhow, I have the same issue as you, although I didn't move anywhere. My flash pro just randomly decided to engage vtec at 4200rpm now. If I set it to 3600 or 4000 rpm, it still engages at 4200 for some reason, but if I raise it to 6k, it will switch at 6k. So I need an answer for this also. However, in the beginning, my flash pro was engaging at 4000rpm no problem, but no idea why it changed. GO PATS

Please let us know the results. I'm thinking about getting a flashpro this summer and it concerns me that altitude could mess up the tune. I live at 600 ft, but often drive as high as 4800ft. Plus I'm planninga trip across country and would hit much higher elevations.

On initial analysis it appears that (due to the drastic change in altitude), the MAP sensor isn't registering a high enough load to trigger VTEC within the designated range... it only kicks in once the high end of the range is reached, which is stock crossover I believe. Anyway I'm definitely not the expert but will keep you posted. I'm very confident that a touch-up tune will solve the problem. Gernby is the man.
