Default HONDATA Is it worth it?

I've been hearing how the HONDATA is the best mod anyone can do to their S, but its like $700!!
I'm going to be honest, I wouldn't mind spending the cash if its really worth it, but I'm kinda confused as to how it works and what it does to my car. I have an 08 with a Greddy SE exhaust and FIPK intake. Had a BERK HFC, but I took it off as it made my car LOUDER!!!

I was going to Supercharge it this year, but I have a baby on the way, so priorities first.

However, with xmas just around the corner, my wife has given me the green light on the HONDATA, but what will it do for me exactly?

The FlashPro allows full user tuning and datalogging of late model performance Hondas and Acuras. It includes Windows based software called FlashProManager.

The FlashPro connects from your laptop's USB port to your vehicles diagnostic port to provide live tuning with a variety of calibrations, extensive real time and stored datalogging capabilities.
It really is one of the best things you can do in combination with bolt on modifications for this car. To expand on the above, it allows you (or a tuner) to fine tune your ECU to get the most power out of the setup you currently have.

Best part, once you decide to supercharge your car down the road, that's $700 you won't have to spend

YES buy it and get a testpipe for like $60 somewhere for maximum gains. dont worry about loudness i hear a tune might reduce drone haha but i could be wrong. anyways you got the right stuff to get hondata and you will love all that midrange with it. Message GERNBY for a tune, he will datalog your tune and you wont even have to go anywhere! (cept drive and tune).

Is this something someone who is not a mechanic can do without messing up the car? I would like my VTEC to engage at lower rpm and explore other performance possibilities, but I respect the complexity of this machine.

Look him up their is a whole thread about his tuning abilities and about exactly what he would be doing with your car. I can tell your weary about reliability, it does not effect it in anyway just makes the car much more enjoyable. Look it up do the research and go for it. I would do it in a heartbeat but i have an MY05..

To be honest, if a HFC is too loud and you had it uninstalled, then a Flashpro on it's own isn't worth the money from my experience.

I recently bought a Flashpro and paid to have GERNBY do an e-tune.
The car feels a bit better but it's not mind blowing. Keep in mind, I only have a K&N FIPK. And nothing against Gernby either... I'm sure he did what he could with my tune considering I have 1 very minor mod.

I just ordered a Berk HFC (I don't want a test pipe because it's too stinky and raspy) and plan on having Gernby do another tune for me once I get around to installing it. I'm hoping this will get me a bit more wow factor and make it worth the price I paid for the flashpro.

Like I said, coming from my own experience... If you don't plan on installing a Test Pipe or even a High flow cat, then the flashpro might not be worth the money unless you have $700 burning a hole in your pocket.

Flashpro with the stock cat will be...underwhelming. you'll get something, ut not $700 worth of something.

Flashpro with a hfc, test pipe, or a gernby exhaust, is the best bang for buck going for getting more out the go pedal in the S.

You would have gotten much more from Flashpro and hfc alone than the rest of your mods. Plus it would not have been too loud with stock exhaust and hfc. You could then spark it up with the uk mod to get some more sound for low cost still without being too loud.

We have great sale pricing on the Flashpro right now if you do decide to go this route. Send me a PM for details.

As for what the Flashpro can do, it changes a lot of the operating parameters of your vehicle. You can change air/fuel ratios, timing, adjust Vtec engagement, throttle response, and so much more. The Flashpro alone can free up some of the power that is restricted by your OE tune, but it really helps to maximize gains from other modifications as well.
