Rules of Thumb I use: If you cannot hear it or feel hesitation in the rpms at those intervals, then it's ghost knock.

When you are talking about hearing knock, you mean when it's on a dyno inside the shop, right? I don't think I would ever rely on my ability to hear knock on the street.

Didn't you say that you were hearing some sort of rattly noise when you start the car? Did you order a set of the colder plugs? I have a set of Denso IK24's that you can try.
Yeah, but that has been fixed. The O2 sensor in the TP wasn't snug and the metal washer was rattling.

Damn, I keep forgetting about the plugs. I'm going to try the NGK BKR8E-11's and then switch over to the iridiums if they prove beneficial. Did you want me to get you a set as well?

Please do order me a set. I think Zo needs a set too.

Both. It's not only hearing but when it knocks usually there is a little hesitation in the rpms (sort of like a miss-fire)

Was anywhere from 22-25 degrees advance when the knock counts occurred.

Looking at the datalog from Dave's car when it got 21 knock counts in a few minutes, the IGN value was -2 to -4 degrees at 1200 RPMs and 550 mBar (idling). I believe there was 2 degrees of retard on cylinder 2 also, so that's a total ignition advance of -4 to -6 while idling.

There were also several knocks between 3600 and 4400 at 22% throttle (680 mBar) and IGN is between 24 and 28 degrees.
