Default How safe

I finally got around to actually use my flashpro that's been sitting at home for months. I used the mugen base map and am now wondering how safe it is. The S has a 70mm hfc, greddy se dual and k&n fpik. I know I should get a real tune, but I can't justify paying $500+ for a car that I drive 2-3 a month. Is it safer to just leave the oem tune or am I ok with running the mugen base map (or any other of the base maps it comes with)?

Checking knock counts for a 30min drive should work in general. One 3rd gear pull for fuel and that should tell you how far it is off.

I would run the toda tune since you have a HFC.

I agree with ScareYourPassenger. The Mugen calibration is NOT the right choice for your setup. The Toda calibration is probably going to be a better bet.

Question for you guys. Here are my mods:

AEM V2 CAI
70mm Berk HFC
Q300 70mm dual exhaust

Would a modified Mugen tune be the best option for me? The mugen tune is for an intake, header, and exhaust. That appears to be a better match than the Toda tune, which was just for a header. Yes, the default VTEC switch for the Mugen is a little high (5400), but if I dropped that down to 4400rpm or so, wouldn't that be a better option?
