My ITB AP1 was tuned via Alpha-N and it was garbage. Much easier to just put the IACV in place and tune it properly based on manifold pressure.

Any tune can be garbage, even a MAP-based tune. With a standard MAP block, a MAP-based tune is VERY difficult to get right, and it would not really be very streetable.

However, with the new type of MAP block that I developed for my URGE DBW ITB kit, a good MAP-based tune is totally achievable. I was actually able to pass the OBDII inspection with just 1 incomplete readiness code and no DTC's!

If your special MAP block is eventually going to be made available, that's awesome. If it's not, then you just made a good argument for NOT buying an ITB setup.

If you don't think the stuff you can buy off the shelf is good enough to get an optimal tune with, I believe you.

I am really tempted by an ITB setup. I need to be sure that I can get a good, street driveable, economical (within reason), responsive tune with them. I don't want to pick between optimum performance and driveability/reliability/economy.

ITB's are difficult to setup and tune, but if done correctly, you'll get similar economy and driveability. I literally forget that they are there...

Here's a video I recorded a couple days ago to show how daily-driveable they are.

alpha-n isnt needed. Dialing in a map tune isnt hard, you just need to remember that the majority of the tuning will be done in a very narrow range of the map sensor.

or get a real ecu that will let you blend several "load" inputs.

I gave up and had a local tuner come and take over. He spent about 2hrs street tuning (after I had taken care of syncing the throttles) and about another hour dyno tuning and the car runs as smooth as stock. From start up, to idle, to stop and go traffic, you wouldn't know it had ITBs....till you hear the wonderful noise they make. The setup is 100% daily drivable. All the rumors about they don't idle well, or they have to have a retune for the weather is false. I live in Texas. It was snowing when it was being tuned (same day Genby made his video lol), 60* and raining when I autoXed it, and 75* and clear at the track the day before the autoX. My motor is stock, with Urge ITBs, header, TP and catback. I also run full AC w/o issue

I am glad I went with AlphaN
