Default kpro, emanage, or vafc?

i've got aem v2, dc ceramic coated header, berk tp, and hks hi-power dual exhaust. i'm looking for something to help these mods compliment each other to the fullest without breaking my wallet.

what would the elders of the engine management spectrum advise for someone in my case?

If your car is my06+, the order of preference/effectiveness would be the order in which you listed your ECU/tuning devices.

vafc will be good bang for the buck, greddy would be next if you want to learn to tune it yourself or track down someone who can tune it.

next, since you are n/a, it would be simple to go with an AEM series 1 (cheap used), get that tuned for your car, and then swap to stock ecu whenever you have to do emissions/etc.

if you have emissions and want to be legal year round, then you have kpro or the haltech routes. kpro is a lot more invasive and expensive, haltech is plug and play.

Yea Johnny I'm on the same page, I got an 04 and I'm new to tuning. I will be purchasing high quality H/TP/E/I and would like to know the best EMS I can use. I've seen some people on here make 225-230 with these bolt ons. AEM seems like a good unit.

Yep an AEM EMS would be the best. Especially if you have full bolt ons (I/E/H/TP). When you start doing bolt ons your car starts running leaner. A VAFC can only really subract fuel, not add any and would be worthless if your already starting to run lean, so you would make no real power with one. With the EMS you have a lot more capabilites and can easily get it tuned good with your bolt ons.

Yes I say just save and get an AEM EMS. Not a lot of people get the Emanage units because they are hard to tune, and some shops won't even touch them. A guy near me put a Greddy turbo kit with the Emanage it came with and it ran like crap and was just hard to get it tuned right. He then switched the an AEM EMS and it runs perfectly now. Has more capabilities and is easier to tune.
