kpro, emanage, or vafc?
hey thanks for helping,
more questions if you dont mind helping out.
1.
what about greddy emanage?
just gonna stay NA for a while.
how much can i get a AEM series one used for?
how much for greddy emanage? (if this is even a good choice).
2. so after tuning with AEM, to swap back to stock ecu for inspections. I just remove AEM ECU and put stock ECU back on? I will have 2 ECU units?
3. I want to learn to tune myself. what's the best way to do this? should i download the software and play with it first (does AEM offer this?) or was it greddy emanage?

Even if your staying NA I would still get the AEM. Either way it will be hard to get a decent tune out of the emanage and gains some good power. The AEM actually replaces your whole OEM ECU (the emanage is just a piggyback and you keep your stock ECU, and have the emanage unit) so if you have to go in for emissions, just unplug it, put the stock one, then once done switch them back again. You should be able to find an AEM for around $700-$800. About double the cost of the emanage but well worth it.
I'm not sure what you should do to try and do some tuning yourself with the AEM, I would at least take it to a good tuner and have them tune it, then just ask them about it. They would know more than I do, and can tell you how learn more about doing some basic tuning yourself.

well here's my take on the greddy e-manage ultimate. i personally own a greddy e-mu and it was pretuned by giles (one of the best there is when it comes to tuning on this particular ems). my car runs real good with it but there was a little confusion at first since i didn't read all of the instructions that was provided with the unit. like for one, i had issues with a blinking cel and thought that was bad. turned out that giles made the knock sensor MORE sensitive. whenever i unplug the e-mu the blinking cel does not exist, so that's how i knew that the engine was fine. to add to that, the engine ran a whole lot better with the e-mu PLUGGED in. pulls real hard from 4k and up since that's when vtec kicks in.
there are two different options you can choose from if you purchase a unit from giles. one is chrome which only has a few less things than the other option which is the black edition. here's a link you can check out for yourself to see the difference. http://holyrollerdyno.com/Holyroller.../Products.html one very noticeable difference between the two is that the black edition re-adjust itself to w/e bolt on mods you put into your car (minus FI); whereas, the chrome just has w/e map it comes w/ and does not automatcially readjust to the mods you change in/out. therefore, you're not really optimizing your bolt-ons.
if you plan on staying n/a for a long time or a lifetime, then the giles pretuned greddy e-mu black edition would be the best bang for the buck. otherwise, i wouldn't bother since they're so damn hard to get a hold of. i made a mistake since i thought giles was going to be around more often but looks like he's to busy so i'm pretty much stuck with this ems. i plan on going FI next year so i still have a couple of fun times with this unit before i have to sell it. but like i said, it's worth it if you plan on staying n/a for a long while. go find a AEM EMS whether it's used or new, then throw in some tuning time, and i bet you'd come up close to what the pretuned greddy can come up in terms of price. but oh wait! you changed out the header after you just got done getting a tune, gosh all that money spent and now time to spend more for a retune. that's where the pretuned giles black edition comes in and saves you the money and time since it will readjust to your change.

when i get an AEM EMS. and first have a tuner tune it. will i still be able to tune myself with a software i get for myself? for example. if i change out other bolt ons or get larger fuel injectors (oem 360cc) to a larger one. Do i need to retune? Can I tune myself without a dyno?
yes, aem has software that you can dl online
have you gone to aem's site? there is, surprisingly, a lot of information there
they also have a forum
yes you can tune your car if you know how to tune, i don't get what you are asking about changing injectors. if you know how to tune, you know how to tune. if you don't, you can learn and risk it, or you can take it to a pro and risk it.
as far as would you need a retune with larger injectors, just think about it for a second.
of course you would.
