Default N/a tuning software needed?

Posted this in the N/a section but ill try here also because it has to do with tuning .So I. Was wondering if I have a n/a 2001 s2k and by n/a I mean ..headers-intake-test pipe-exhaust. Would a tune be necessary? I know a tune would make better power but would it be needed.

Also I live In MA so the car has to be able to pass emissions so a STAND ALONE will not happen.

If I were to run hondata would I be able to pass emissions with it in?

Thank you

The only Hondata product you can run on your model year is the KPro. With that, you should be able to pass emissions. The need for engine tuning is up to you... There is a lot of mid range power and torque to be had with a good tune.

What would be needed to swap out exactly? Also how much does a used system go for

With a full standalone, all you have to do to switch back to "stock" for emissions is to unplug the EMS with the tune and plug in the factory EMS. That's it.

Wouldn't a few sensors have to be swapped back to oem? I assume aem and haltech come with different map sensors possibly or some sort of sensor? I'm basing this off havin aem on one of my EVO's and I ended up just going back to stock Ecu and tuning with that

The AEM standalone utilizes the same sensors that the factory EMS uses. Any other sensors that you ass are for monitoring and tuning purposes but have no necessary function in regards to the AEM ECU.

So If I were to buy aem then I would be good with the stock sensors even when it comes to tune the vehicle? And then just swap out for the stock Ecu come emissions time and still be good?

I just got the AEM series 2 and will be getting an E-tune soon. I believe that Jeff Evans encourages a wideband for E-tunes but my friend had his dyno tunes and he didn't need anything else. He still has all stock sensors and no gauges at all.

I also want a wideband for piece of mind and fine tuning later on.

if you were to buy aem or haltech they are stand alones. you literally unplugged your stock ecu, plug in the new one, and tune. i would recommend a wideband o2 sensor as well, but that takes so little time to swap in or out. (10 mins as well)
