NO start sync with aem ems 1052u

i recently got my motor from the shop my car was down for about six months. I tried to started it with the aem ems 1052u but no start switched it and put the stock one and it fires right up. First i though it was the Aem that was bad but one of my buddys has an AP1 we tried it on his and it fired right up HELP!!!!! where it says START SYNC OFF
can any one help
