Default ScienceofSpeed AEM Infinity Based Engine Management & Traction Control

ScienceofSpeed offers the best AEM Infinity 506 kit for the S2000 with a plug and play bracket, a wire harness that allows easy and clean installation, and dash control for the 06-09 S2000. Did you also know that we also offer a kit that allows traction control on all S2000 years?

Using the Infinity’s built-in traction control system (which is far superior to the factory 06-09 system) and ScienceofSpeed’s wheel speed converter – you can program smooth traction control – which can be switched on or off with a switch (and the factory switch on the 06-09). You can even use a multi position switch to trim how much traction control you wish to be active.

The ScienceofSpeed Infinity system for 2006-09 even allows control of the factory VSA lamp and traction warning lamp for the ultimate in a clean tidy factory-like installation.

Maybee a noob question but I will go ahead anyway.
Regarding the Wheel Speed Sensor Pulse Converter: Quoting from the SOS web site "The typical installation uses one front wheel speed sensor (for ground wheel speed) and the factory VSS sensor in the transmission for the rear wheels (for driven wheel speed)."
Taking this into account, does the traction control work effectively with a different final drive? or is it a matter of gearing set-up in the AEM tuner?
Thanks

Thinking of pulling the trigger on this. Has anyone done this successfully on a 2004 S2K?

F1TwoThousand I have it on my 2003 race car. I need to find out a good MPH setting for it.

I have this on my 2005 S2000 and it works great. I haven't messed with any of the settings other than turning the traction control on or off though. Also recently got the AEM 12 position trim switch from SOS but there were no instructions on how to wire it in or set it up in the Infinity, so it might be a while before that is set up.

2004 is no different than any other AP1. I have an 2002 AP1 with Infinity 506 and SOS's pulse converter for front wheel's wheel speed sensor. I have traction control fully enabled with the AEM 12 position trim switch. SOS's Infinity harness makes it very easy to get access to the wheel speed sensor out of the box. But it is also possible to set all this up on regular AEM infinity harness (like I have, just requires more effort) -- I just purchased the SOS pulse converter separately and SOS was very helpful with the setup. I had some initial concern about jitter on the signal from the converter (concern being false positive for wheel slip)

Here is the excessive noise I had when I first inspected the VSS signal and SOS pulse converter signal (from Digital6) after initial install -- various spikes to 880 MPH from the pulse converter and quite a bit of noise in the VSS signal:

SOS suggested I check all grounds, I had one that was loose. I also installed an extra ground kit to really improve things. After doing so I still had noise on my VSS signal but the random spikes to 880 MPH, without decel/accel below 15 MPH noted below in final graph, were eliminated:

To eliminate all the VSS noise I needed to tighten my connections to a "modifry yellow jacket" I have installed (to correct my speed in that I have a 4.44 final drive gear rather than stock 4.10):

Thankfully the remaining noise doesn't cause the AEM infinity's TC to kick (because it only triggers if VSS, drive wheel speed, is greater than the SOS pulse converter provided speed).
The green spikes up from the SOS pulse converter are discussed in this note I sent to SOS:

I am seeing spikes when starting from speeds lower than 10-15 MPH, or decelerating from
above 10-15 MPH. Almost like events (e.g. coming to a stop at a stop
sign) that slow the sensor below a supported threshold (15MPH?)
trigger the Pulse converter to drive the signal high and it then
gradually counts down back to the actual speed. Happens when I slow
down abruptly or start driving from slower speeds. Those are the
spikes you see in those lulls above. Otherwise the
SoS pulse converter output seems flawless.
SoS confirmed my suspicion about the 15MPH threshold:
The unit you have will have issues cutting out around 15 mph, which traction control isn't normally needed around there, which is why in our instructions we suggest you set the engagement higher to keep from seeing this issue.
Last important note I'll share is I found that turning off all signal smoothing or noise cancellation (that the Infinity is capable of doing, if configured) is important to get a clean singal.

Wish I could help you but mine was installed by Jeff Evans when he tuned my car a couple years ago. I have to imagine SOS can help you out though. Have you reached out to them with follow-up questions?

This is worth getting if you have the infinity. SOS has been absolutely great to work with as well.

Thanks
Pulse / MPH is adjustable in the Infinity software. Our instructions give the pulse / MPH for the front wheel, so they could simply be matched after a quick data log. Drop us a line if you have any questions on setup.

Please drop us an e-mail to info@ScienceofSpeed.com - we recently updated the instructions, and it includes how to configure a multi-position switch to vary traction control thresholds based on switch position.
