Default swapping an MY05 engine into a MY00

So I have a blown engine. Pitted pistons and scratched cylinder walls. I found a 2005 engine and was wondering if I can do a direct swap without needing to switch out the ECU, ignition switch, ignition, reprogramming the key, and whatever else might need to be done (wiring harness?). I assume this would involve just leaving the intake manifold/intake and header/exhaust and just swapping the long block.

I am going to be doing this with a friend in the next couple weeks if I can do the swap, so any pointers would be helpful as well

any help?

im just hoping there are no other sensors on an 05 engine and if using a MY00 ecu will hurt the MY05 engine?

Not trying to be a dick, but did you search...any? Many of us have done this swap already and have threads about them. Read up on them. To answer your questions, when doing the swap use the ap1 fuel rail, wire harness and ecu.

I dropped in a '05 engine in my '00 two years ago when my '00 engine was starved of oil. No modifications needed (used the '05 harness and fuel rail), stock '00 ECU should be fine although I'm using AEM V2. PM me if you have any specific questions.

I did the same swap. These are the only different pieces you will come across.

BE careful NOT to break the knock sensor

I totally forgot about the knock sensor LOL when installing remove it before place the engine in the bay, reinstall it when you place the engine on the motor mounts, I broke 2 of them, one was my fault, the other my helpers fault LOL they are fragile

Thanks guys for the replies and sorry for not searching first. I generally always do that first, but it skipped my mind this time.
