Default throttle position 79.9%

Have been searching old posts but couldn't find an answer. I just attached a scan tool to my car and out of curiosity checked the throttle position, when the car is idleing it reads 16.9% and when i put my foot to the floor it reads 79.9% is this normal? Should it not read 0% to 100%

cheers for any help!

Those numbers do seem odd, but I wouldn't expect the throttle to ever go down to 0% at idle, since the DBW system always keep the throttle open some amount at idle. The upper limit should go to 100%. Are you sure your throttle pedal isn't being impeded in some way? Have you removed the intake tube to see if the throttle plate is opening all the way when the pedal is pushed?

BTW, there was some issue with the FlashPro reading something less than 100%, IIRC, so maybe there is just a data issue from the ECU.

On my h22, I datalogged 10-12% while cruising. So I seriously doubt that you're TB is open that much at an idle.

Also, doesn't the IACV take care of the idle? So the TB shouldn't be open at an idle anyways. This is how OBD1 honda's are but I don't know about the s2k's.

The '06+ S2000's don't have an IACV due to the DBW TB.

Gotcha. Makes sense really, sense the computer has to control the TB anyways.

you would have a hell of a time driving the car if the sensor is really putting out 16+% at the zero pedal position - because i increase the throttle position tables in flashpro close to those numbers and it was a bitch to drive...

but any ways if it's true... check the cable adjustment from the pedel to DBW sensor mounted on the driver side fenderwell... should not be an issue but you never know...

fyi for flashpro owners- the kpro system allows for calibration of the TPS at 0% and 100%. just hit the recal button with the pedal at the zero position and another recal button with the petal at the 100% position. I would cheat the 100% position by backing off the pedal a bit to make sure i was hiting the 100% mark..

for the flashpro you could adjust the throttle table to match the sensor readings. but i would use the flashpro sensor readings not the scan tool if the two didn't match...
