Tunerview2 hondata module disconnects
I'm trying to track down an issue where my Tunerview2 occasionally disconnects on longer journeys. Once in a while it'll flicker but recover, less frequently it'll flicker and then get stuck trying to connect. I know Hondata recommends grounding the valve cover on the K series but couldn't find any explicit instructions to do the same on the s2k.
That said, I did find that Spectacle was having issues with laptop disconnects and found that adding the ground cured it which is why I'm thinking of trying it out.
I already got some clip on ferrite chokes for the USB cable between the Kpro and the TV2 module but that didn't fix the issue.

Yes. Ground the valve cover to the frame. All probs will go away.
Figure you can't get much more grounded than that.

Fingers crossed that this is it.
Edit: Image removed lest it lead people in the wrong direction.
I can't see the pic right now but my TV2 is grounded to the chassis right next to the radio. The ECU & TV2 need to be on the same ground plane. Just grounding to metal is not enough, be sure its somewhere on the chassis.
I've got the module tucked in right next the the ECU so I'll look for a better ground. Another thing I'm going to try, just to eliminate it, is to thread the cable that runs from the module to the actual display out from behind the gauge cluster. I know there's one spot where it's pinched pretty hard by the bezel.
Edit: Can I ground it to the ECU case itself?

Stop. With the K-Series we recommend the main ground is moved to either the cylinder head or valve cover stud into the cylinder head. With the S2000 the ground is already on the back of the cylinder head in a good location, and we do not recommend changing it.
What you have done is move the main ground from the ideal location to the valve cover, which is rubber isolated from the cylinder head. Change this back before you use the vehicle again.
The ground wire for the TV2 needs to go to the same point as the ECU ground, otherwise you'll be creating a ground loop. This is the same ground point on the rear of the cylinder head as you've moved above.

Ok, good to know. I didn't actually move the ground at the back of the head, I added this one leaving the rest as is. I'll take it off, though, now you mention it with the rubber gasket in there it's really not doing much at all.
Is there a suitable ground in the driver's footwell for the TV2 that you'd recommend or should I run it through to the head?
Thanks for catching that. Well, not so much catching it, I think it looked worse to you from the pic than it actually is but clearing up that there's no need to add the extra ground on the VC.
