I picked up a vafc 1 today and it just came with the unit and extended harness. Now how in the world do I go about installing this thing? do I need a boomslang harness or some other kind? The only time I ever see people using a harness is with the vafc ii but I've yet to see one with the vafc i. Would I just hardwire it? Is there a DIY?

 

Does that harness have plugs on the end of it

You can either search for a wiring diagram or buy a frog harness which is 100 times easier

Do those work for both vafc 1 and 2? Also are all those boomslangs the same thing as long as its for an s2000 or are they different? i.e. is a boomslang for a greddy emanage the same one as for the vafc?

 

Yes it should work for both vafc 1 and 2

The boomslang are different depending on the year

And no they are not the same between the emanage and vafc

 

Is there a way to just tap into my harness? I've seen those boomslangs get pretty pricy

 

Yes you can splice into the harness you just have to find the wiring diagram and if in the future you decide to sell the vafc then you would have to attach all the wires again is a pain in the ass
