Default vtec controller

What's the best VTEC controller for the my04 ap2 I currently got test pipe and exhaust read somewhere I can get some good gains if I drop the VTEC engagement just don't know which controller is best or what's the necessary steps to obtain this. Would like to hear advice's from you guys before making a decision. Thanks a bunch

Oh and also is tuning a necessity I've also read some where it isn't but others debated saying you do. Lmk thanks

On my ap1 I had the vafc2 with the frog harness which is plug and play but for me I had it dyno tuned to get better gains I had my VTEC at 5200 with header test pipe and exhaust and after dyno tuned it went from 190whp to 218 it made a huge difference
