Default Vtec point tuning (4700rpm, 4850, 5000, 5500?)

I've seen different tuners set it at different points, does anyone who tuned their vtec points on the dyno have charts showing power curve difference from using different pts?

Here is a comparison between 2 S2000s dynoed at the same place on the same day. The blue graph is mine, and my VTEC is set to engage at 5400 RPMs. As you can see, I didn't get any benefit from VTEC until about 5600 RPMs. I'm going to raise it to 5600. All in all, the optimum VTEC engagement depends on your mods, but if you are NA, you probably shouldn't be in VTEC until after 5500 RPMs.

Ignore the other differences in the graphs, since both cars are VERY different from each other in terms of mods.

I have turbo and was told by Darryl at UR to leave VTEC at the factory setting. Is he right or can I benefit from making adjustments?

I second gernby's statement. I had the same experience on my car with AEM intake. There was no diffference on the dyno with the 2 settings.

With the SC, my Vtec was around 4300-4700.

What vtec cross over point are you turbo guys using?

As gernby said, it's dependent on your setup. I set mine to 5600 and had good gains. Looking at the chart, I probably could've gone lower. However, I believe I am currently having other issues that are causing me to lose power (primarily on the low-cam), and that may also effect where the optimal setting for my car was.

The red chart is with the crossover set to 5600, and some fuel tuning done. The blue chart is with the crossover set to 6000, and no fuel tuning.

FI definitely warrants a much lower VTEC engagement than stock.

What "2 settings" made no difference? There is DEFINITELY a difference between 5600 and 5900 RPMS! (look at the graph that I posted)

What is a good crossover point for the UR turbo kit then? Does anyone know this or has it been tested? And why does FI warrant a much lower VTEC engagement?

When the high cams engage they allow more air and fuel into the cylinder which is the same pricipal of FI. The more air and fuel you can get into the cylinder=more power. When does the UR kit first hit full boost? Set your VTEC point there and see what you get. FYI, I'm NA with VTEC at 5700 and I have a smooth line through transition and keeps going up through redline.
