Default is 02 electronic box control on 01 ok?

i was checking the fuse box to reset ecu (since the car's been running lean i thought reseting it would help) i noticed the vortech electronic box said "MY 02". i know 01 and 02 s2k's are unchanged but i just want to make sure if it might have been a factor why ive been running lean. my s2k is 01 with vortech sc and vortech stock parts. thankx in advance.

btw, i did reset my ecu (dis. battery), i also did a search and someone said it's the third fuse on the right to reset if you dont want to disconnect the battery. my first slot is free, the second and third are filled. i just stopped messing with it right then when i saw that. i would assume that the third one is still the fuse to pull in order to reset the ECU?

reason im reseting is that when i had my clutch/fw put in, the a/f would be at 12.1 or so WOT at maybe 45ish mph in 5th or 6th gear. so i guessed that they disconnected the battery and ecu was reset. a/f ratio has gone up in the mid 13s and lower 13 at times near redline so i haven't been driving hard. im going to test it now to see if that's the case. anyways, my original question, do you guys think the Vortech box for 02 works the same for MY 01?

Yes. It's labelled "BACK UP".

There could be many reasons why you're running lean when you didn't used to. Could be dirty injectors, vacuum leak such that the FMU isn't doing it's thing, clogged fuel pump sock, etc. I take it you have a wide band gauge?

as always, quick to reply, xviper. thankx man. i do have wideband. i just tested it out after the reset and i got 12.8 or so at the richest point. i guess it's time for a stand alone ecu just more and more $ into this thing. it's fun though

i do notice one very important thing while pulling through the gears. things got kind of blurry , i know my eyes are still good first time since the new clutch and flywheel that i really got on it. WOW. it was hard to watch the gauge and the road at one because i was coming to a dead end

The Vortech electronics don't effect the fueling of the motor under boost. The FMU handles that. It does effect the spark timing in boost though.

If I recall correctly, the 1st release of the Vortech kit was in 02. My old controller had the same MY 02 markings.

It's also fairly common for a stock boost Vortech to run high 12's 13's WOT air/fuel #'s

Typically i have found that the vortech cars run very lean.My car also equipped with a vortech ran very lean at first.I had to install a fm recalibration kit(12 to 1)and that gave me one full point richer on the wideband. That helped alit ,but i was still lean.I then added a apexi vafc and was able to add 10% more fuel and that put me at approx 12.5 to 1 on the wideband.I too did not want to spend more money after dishing out 4 grand.I've been running this setup for just over 3k with no issues.

slows2k- yeah i kind of knew that the FMU is responsible for additional fuel delivery but i was still hoping for a miracle

thanks for your info bout the 02 box.

joe- that sounds good. however, did you achieve 12.5 with the help of both recalibrated fmu AND vafc? or is it possible to increase more than 10 percent with vafc alone. im still trying to learn

oh and my merchanic told me he put the biggest disk (correct me if im wrong) in the fmu to allow as much fuel as possible. would that be the same as the kit you mentioned about?
