Unhappy 10lb pulley or go turbo.....

Well since my car isn't my daily now I have time to work on it. Currently I'm running the stock Comptech pulley and I want more. From what I've been seeing I'm not building boost till mid rpm and then I get a nice top pull. Now I got a crazy thought to turn over to the dark side and go turbo, faster spool and bigger kick. Will the 10lb pulley make the charger spool earlier or do I do the damn thing and go turbo

if u want 400whps or more go turbo..
if u want same reliable as ur current set up.. go with 10lb pulley ,and a good tune and u will have something around 350-360..

good luck

Are you willing to invest more money to make the switch to turbo?

I wish i went turbo before i went s/c... Would have saved alot of time and money.

you will notice more power sooner if you get the larger pulley but not much... its after 6k rpms were you will really start to feel the pull but your limited by soo much. With a s/c you don't even make GOOD #'s until after 7k Rpms. I would know... i made 380whp on dynamics with a 15lb pulley.

When i really wanted to feel the power from the supercharger i would have to take my rpms up to about 6k rpms to start feeling that good kick.

...with my turbo now :-D at 4k rpm's i feel a Much stronger kick and at 6k rpms im making more power then i did at redline with the supercharger HAHA and have it granted that i have a large turbo that people say "spools slow" but i completely disagree.

after being used to the power band of a supercharger for almost 2 years and then switching to a GT35 turbo. What a power feel difference!!!! Turbo is way more fun and you get your power much faster at lower rpms. At higher rpms... S/C will have no boost lag but after 5k rpms spool is practically instant...any rpm higher then that, its just that much faster.

best part about it.... most s2k's start a race above 6k rpms LOL. at that rpm i'm already shifted into my next gear before the s/c'd car hits redline

You also have 511whp which is in my opinion very cool but a little extreme If hes looking for 350-400 whp your ctsc will get you there. Also lower vtec engagement to 4200 or so and you'll get a better kick earlier.

I upgraded to a higher boost pulley and I don't regret it...but for me, reliability was imperative as I intend to make the car track-only.

Try taking your turbo s to the track. Then write back.

nahhh hahahah I didn't design my car for track purposes. I designed my car so i can have a fun weekend Get-a-way :-) Most enthusiasts are all about going to the track or the drag strip... i made my car so i can have fun with it on the street and enjoy every minute of having it. Besides... how often do you go to the track anyway when compared to how often you drive it in the city????? i wanna have fun while driving down the beach instead of trying to have the best "track times." screw that!! i don't care about track times.

I care about having FUN!!!!

I agree, and when your ready for more power, CT-Engineering (AKA Comptech) has a Novi 1220SL conversion kit to replace the Novi 1000 blower.

Novi 1000 (500 max HP)
Novi 1220SL (680 max HP)
