2003 S2K - Greddy Turbo
As a mechanic and a person whose been f-cked by a (friend) i'm gonna say good luck to you sir. You're about to pay what I like to call stupid tax.
Stupid thing 1- letting anyone drive your turbocharged sports car who doesn't have one of there own sitting there for you to drive. My wife doesn't drive my car.
Stupid thing 2- letting anyone drive your turbocharged sports car who doesn't have one of there own sitting there for you to drive. No one drives my car.
Stupid thing 3- well you get the picture.
Also you have no case against the shop in court. The judge will laugh when you describe how you let your friend borrow your modded car and he took the liberty to have it serviced without your knowledge. Then brought back your car with a blown motor and its the shops fault. You're gonna spend more on a lawyer than you'll ever recover. Trust me on this you ain't getting shit out of that shop. I've been to court with several customers of mine who were screwed by other shops as a witness. Not one has recoved anywhere close to what they spent fighting the case. You need to sit down with your (friend) and have a man to man conversation about his responsibilites to you. If he's a true friend, he'll offer to help. If he's not you can at least beat his ass for some satisfaction. I had the same shit happen to me with my brand new gsxr-600 several years ago. (Friend) wanted a test ride as he was about to buy. Bike got totaled and my (friend) suddenly had no money and disapeered. Call up laskey or inline pro and have them build you a nice shortblock or get a new one from honda. Either way your gonna be out about 5k when its said and done. Good luck and i'm sure you'll never forget. NEVER LET ANYONE DRIVE YOUR SHIT, EVER.

Read this again, what he said... I really think the story is a joke. He blew up your car, did you tell him how to drive it first or just throw him the keys?
Gents:
Thanks so much for the feedback. The name of the shop that quoted 11K is in Orange, CA-Project Import. I also thought $11K was a bit much, but I don't know any reputable places in OC. They came highly recommended by Church Automotive.
Today, the shop was sent a demand letter by my attorney. While some of you did voice your opinions: saying that it would be next to impossible to settle for any amount in/outside the court, I'm still going to give it a shot. They're a good shop, but were careless and sloppy. In a perfect world, they would pay for this w/o the threat of legal action.
I'll definitely keep everyone updated with my progress.
Thanks,
