now i see how the hondata is configured - it is nothing more than a piggy back, what would be the advantages of the k-pro over aem fic?
the fic retains your cruise control and has a map clamp so boost over 11lbs would be ok without a new map sensor.

What does it typically cost to tune a k-pro? vs aem fic?

It's not a piggy-back.

It has FULL CONTROL of anything to do with tuning. Piggy-backs take a signal from the stock ECU, adds its spices into the mix, and 'tries its best' to spit out what you are looking for.

The K-Pro creates its own signal and sends it out just the way you want it to.

Another way to look at it is that a piggyback works in series with the stock ECU where as the K-Pro works in parallel with the ECU.

sorry - but look on how it is wired - it intercepts the signal from stock ecu and sends out its own signal just like the aem-fic, for the additional cost what is the advantages?

According to these pictures, they are both wired to a 'main output' (don't know what else to call it). If you look, the blues wires from the Hondata and the red wires from the ECU are connected to the same point in a parallel setup. The ECU sends its "allowed" signals to the main output and the K-Pro sends its signals to the main output. They are not wired in series. The other diagram gives a simplified picture of how it is wired.

what is the advantage? for 3x the cost what is its advantage? I have used k-pro on several rsx turbo cars - hate it - but if it truely better, then great, but i still can not see a advantage. someone please inform on the value to go with this k-pro setup.

It is better cause it is not altering an ECU signal. Piggy-backs are not 100% efficient at changing a stock ECU output signal, and therefore when you get into the high HP motors and very critical tuning, you want to make sure that your ECU is putting out EXACTLY what you want it to do. A piggy-back can do that but not as efficient as if you had a tuning platform that creates its own signals.

In other words, the K-Pro has 100% reliability on its output signals where as a piggy-back does not.
