The CEL fix makes the car think that it's stock and it will not throw a CEL fix. You can actually pass an emissions test with a test pipe as long as it has this extended bung fix.

The .5 difference is probably very worth it. I'd estimate that it'd make a 5 rwhp difference alone. You're getting rid of another bottleneck so if you can get one done for a good price I would do it.
Yeah I hear ya, I just don't think $275 is a very good price.........

A lot of shops won't make them because they can get in deep sh!t getting caught bypassing the cat.

you can pass maybe the check engine part of the the test but in california i know you wont pass the actual test. but i think 275 is way too overpriced.

really? i dont think the shop should be responsible for that. thats like the honda dealer getting in trouble for selling cars that can do over 100mph, not their job to monitor whats done w/ the product once it leave the shop.

but anyways, yea, i'd say a 3" tp should cost no more then $150 at a exhaust shop. Just two flanges, and a bung. And there is no problem running a 2 1/2" dp to a 3" TP.

I dont know if youve checked this site or not, but here is a link to kteller's web site. He's got 3" TP's for 65, plus a little more for the o2 bung.

That won't even be close to fitting anything with a stock type routing. Our cats and test pipes have some bend and offset to them.

I saw Berk's post. For $275 it's not worth it. For less than $200, it probably is. I'm always surprised by the cost of good welding and flanges. Any shop could make one from press bent 3" aluminized pipe for $50. Trying to find a shop that can tig one from stainless steel with the proper flanges is considerably more difficult. And even then, a one-off made on the car generally won't fit as well as something made in a tight jig based on the stock cat.

you can replicated the cel fix by using 2 anti-foulers, esp since you have a pre-MY06.. just find any 70mm test pipe..
