Default 3.90 vs 4.10 Gear Ratio - worth the wait?

Planning to get a Puddymod Stage 2. Is the 3.90 worth the extra wait and cost? Will be installed in a Turbo'd S2k.

I believe it will be approx extra 3 months wait and extra $800.

$1600 vs $2400.

Cheers

If you are making big power then the 3.90s are a great way to go. I love mine.

I'm going 3.63. I believe for AP2's with the lower redline and shorter gearing, 3.63 is reasonable. AP1's with the higher redline and taller gearing maybe not. Depends what the car is built for of course.

I have an Ap1. Power is approx 400hp. Car is used to drive around. No drags. No track.

If 3.90 is much better than worth the wait. If not much noticable difference then I'm going with the stock 4.10.

Is the modded 3.90 ratio the same, louder, or quieter than the stock ratio/diff? Car should be quieter on freeway being itll cruise at lower rpm. A HUGE plus.

i have the puddymod stage 3 diff with the 3.9 final drive and i love it. but i have close to 600whp with only 400whp i wont not recommend it. With only 400whp the car is still not that fast and wont have any traction problems so you dont want anything to slow you down. with 600whp i have no traction in the first 3 gears and the 3.9 final drive help with traction and actually made the car faster. The lower highway cruzing rpm and the increase gas millage is also nice.

to me it sounds the same. If anything the car is quieter because of the lower cruising rpm.

I have the 3.9 gears in my AP2 without that much power (~450whp), but it makes the car so much more drivable in all situations. It's really only 5% longer than stock. The biggest change for me was having to keep reminding myself that I'm going a bit faster than indicated. At around 80mph indicated with 4.1's you're really going 76-77mph, whereas with the 3.9's it's over indicated - makes it easier to speed.
