Default 3mm headgasket longevity

so i did a search and found plently of argument threads on stock cr vs lower cr but couldnt find anything really focusing on the life a thicker headgasket. just looking for people w/ thicker headgaskets opinions and experience with them and how long they last before they start to go. im expecting around 10k miles and fine with that, but would be very happy if i hear people running them for 20k+. any help is appreciated, thanks.

ive put around 10k on mine and not one problem.

i think it also comes down to the installer and proper torquing of the gasket itself..

Its going to depend on the stress put on the motor. As in how much boost you would be running and if the car is daily driven. I'm sure there will be so many more opinions on this topic

Are you using stock head bolts or ARP head studs?

I've read of people having them last anywhere from 5 to 25 thousand miles from the looking I did.

With a good tune I can't see why they would last any shorter/longer than an OEM headgasket. Of course the reality is they are usually installed in cars that are pushed to the limit and often beyond it.

The most important thing is to follow the torquing procedures for your choice of fasteners and get a really good tune.

In cases where they have failed, the most common causes have been improper installation and overheating.

As of now, there is no definite answer for how long the actual gasket will last as some other variable always comes into play.

TRBOKEV's estimate is also what I have seen thus far from others experiences.

I would never use one on a stock motor, because i dont think it would last me 100k. I would just build the motor using an oem gasket, and lower comp pistons.

I'd like to see a thread from actual users w/ current mileage or mileage before failure, #s of boost, driving style, installer, brand.
