Default 6262 V band flange problem

I have a Precision 6262 with a v band on it. I tried to install the downpipe today and realized that the flange on my downpipe is a bit bigger. I want to say that the turbo is either a 2.5 or 2.75. The down pipe has a 3in flange on it. How does this work? The guy I got this from ran a 35r and I am pretty sure it will have the same size flange on the turbo. Will this still seal even though they are two different size flanges. Just does not seem like it will work to me. Has anyone come across this?

I found this but will need to cut and reweld the downpipe.

or this and slip the pipe over the flange

Thanks
Martin

Thats weird. I could have sworn I bought a 3" vband for my dp and it worked just fine.

I don't remember it being anything odd sized.

v-bands come in all sorts of different diameters even for the same pipe size. thats why, when doing something like a v-band setup, its important to have the flanges measured before going any further.

Putting the full-race set up on was a huge pain. This stuff is not coming off. I need to fix the issue at the downpipe. How was the previous owner running this? It had to of leaked. The car made great power though 540whp@19psi. The spool was great too.

Is everyone running a 2.5in v band on the downpipe even though the piping is 3in. I need to get this sorted asap.

Almost everyone who wants to make good power run a 3" downpipe with a 3" vband flange. Are you sure your turbo is a 2.5"? Didnt think precision would make a 6262 with a 2.5 exhaust... mabey your other vbands are 3.5"

I will measure them today just to make sure. The downpipe diameter is 3in for sure. Maybe the flange is bigger?

Just measured. The v band on the turbine is 3 1/4 outside diameter. The downpipe is 3 3/4 outside diameter. I also have a 3in v band flange that I bought from atp and it also measure 3 3/4in. I guess I have to buy a 2.5 inch v band flange. The one I posted in the second link. The piping will slip over the outside of the flange. How did this guy run the downpipe before how it is. It just does not seem like it would work the way it is.

Just got off the phone with precision. Guy was saying that you need a 2.5in flange as the the outside diameter is 3.1in. I asked how everyone is running a 3 inch downpipe on these turbos then. Answear I got was that they either open it out or crush it in to fit into their v band flange. As their flange has a 2.75 opening on it.

Siadam, you do not have any exhaust leaks then? Even though the two flanges have different outside diameters. Turbo has a 3 1/4 and downpipe having 3 3/4.

Oh also they told me that the precision turbo has a different vband on it? You have to run precision vband clamp which is $50 That is nuts, so they want $30 for their flange and another $50 for the clamp. Has anyone used a regular vband clamp on their turbo?
