Thumbs up 70mm exhaust piping

I am thinking about getting the Amuse Outlet R1 (Titanium) catback exhaust system. I am not positive, but I believe the exhaust piping is 70mm, which is 2.76 inches. I am also looking at getting a supercharger and I have often heard that you want 3" exhaust piping (at a minimum) when going FI. This Amuse exhaust costs about $2000.00. How much performance would I suffer by getting this exhaust? Should I look at getting a custom 3" exhaust?

A 70mm exhaust is great with a basic to intermediate supercharger system, even the stock exhaust is fine. If you go turbo the larger you go with it the more boost you can run. Even with a turbo a 70mm is fine agin, with a basic to intermediate set up

I think it's perfect for the SC, a turbo should get 3" as standart. So since you go the SC route, go for it. But keep in mind thst titanium is thiner and can't handle FI as well as SS.

Just my 2cent

What do you mean by "can't handle FI as well"? Temperature wise? To me the greatest feature about the titanium exhaust is weight--this exhaust system is extremely light even though it is still dual.

Depends on power.

Here's some good practical information from Dynomax:

This chart is a good rule of thumb for power to exhaust diameter size.

If you decide to go with a turbo system and the dp/exhaust isn't properly matched to the turbo size, you will have issues with flow. E.g., if the diameter is too small for turbo, too much restriction & less power (turbo working too hard). However, if the diameter is too large, you can have issues with surging, or increased spool time.

I am not sure if the above issues relate to SC'd cars also.

If you go with a custom set up, other considerations would include type of resonator (baffled, chambers, etc), but also exhaust route (straight through vs. bends; mandrel bends?).
