Can you do a 3rd gear pull and capture a Boost data log using your AEM?

AEM has a data log program that you run while making the pull...or whenever you want too. So the laptop is in the car and hooked up when you are logging. You can monitor anything you want...boost, injectors, knock, afr...

First thing to check is belt slip if your not yielding the psi you know you should have. Also a lower comp motor will produce less power generally speaking, it also should show you less boost pressure if I'm not mistaken. If you find your not getting any belt slip, then I'd mark it up to your motor build. Its what you got, so make use of it and run the smallest pulley you can run. The motor should take more then what that blower will put out. Lower comp motors aren't generally the best combination with centrifugal supercharging on our motors, becuase these blowers dont put out enough boost pressure to warrant it. All but just a couple of these blowers max out around 15 psi, and the stock compression engine will take that without issue given the proper tuning. Higher comp creates a bigger explosion and thus yields more power potential.

Every 1 point of compression decrease will decrease your boost by 1 psi, find out what the C/R is. Idealy if ur stock compression (11) with a 14psi pulley u should reach 14 psi, If ur compression is now 9 and u have a 14 psi pulley you should reach 12 psi.

Yep makes sense, probably 9:1 comp pistons. They are one of the more commonly used when building these motors it seems.

thanks guys. didn't realize the built motor would lower my boost psi. this is the smallest pulley i can run on this blower without going over it's max efficiency. i guess i only have 12 psi to work with... unless i rebuild the blower. (was part of the plan anyway eventually).

either this or cams are my next step. anyone have any suggestions for cams for my setup?? brian crower? skunk2? etc.

i dont think i have belt slip btw. everything seems linear when i'm accelerating. i dont hear any squeeling or anything when in high boost.

brian crower stage 2 n/a cams seem to work great in our engines, if you were to do that id also do valve springs and retainers, you might be better off getting a novi 1200 instead and running more boost. Thats what id do anyways

I am in the process of doing the nv 1200 upgrade and you are looking at about $2k for the swap. I also am doing the valve springs and some head work...was going to do cams as well, but was told that the stock cams make good power. However, if I do go back and do cams... a pretty easy swap..just need to re-tune afterwards, I was told that the BC stage 2 all motor cams were the way to go. You may want to just do it in stages.

I already have valvesprings and retainers done. refer to my first post. My blower is a Vortech so switching to a Paxton is different... I was thinkin about rebuilding my Vortech V2 to a T trim though.

I'm also looking into adjustable cams.. would it be more bang for the buck to just do camgears or would it have no comparison to full camshafts?
