Default AEM 2step... How bad is it?

Ok, so I finally got my car running great. Pulls really hard in all gears.

I wanna take it to the track just once to see how it runs.

I know the s2000 isn't a 1.4 mile car.... but this build is fast, and I'd like to compare it to all my other cars that i've built over the years and taken to the track.

Tonight I went to a back road to try to launch in effort to get a little practice before this friday. I tried launching the car, something I have never tried before, and low and behold, the AEM 2step kicked in and started building boost. I freaked out, and let the clutch out and did a run. Actually not a bad run considering i somewhat jumped the gun. (called my tuner, and he said he setup the 2step)

Anyways, I had a MSD soft 2step in my mr2 and it was great. And I heard it wasn't bad for the car.

Anyways, back to the topic. How bad is the AEM 2step for our engines? Am I ok with the occasional launch? How about a night at the track with say 5-6 runs throughout the night?

Stock ap1 w/ 3mm headgasket.

Any input appreciated.

Thanks.

If you want to run a good time, you'll have to leave on a Two-Step (in boost) You can make is as violent or as soft as you'd like.

I've never had any two-step related problems or issues, and we are pretty aggressive with it.

See attached video......

8000rpm and around 15psi of boost.

I am no expert because I don't drag race but I imagine this is the same as a rev limiter (only premature, if you will). Anyway, I believe the way to minimize engine wear/damage is to make sure that timing is retarded well before fuel cutoff. Maybe call AEM and find out what they believe are optimal settings for this platform? They are usually quite helpful.

^^ Nice vid.
Why a wheelie bar on a FWD? Does it help to keep the car straight?
