Default AEM Boost Controller Surge

I have finally gat around to hooking up my AEM Truboost controller and the car surges like crazy with it. I have a stock greddy kit and I think I could even hear the waste get opening and slamming shut. I make more peak boost, up to 8.5lb, where as a direct connection from the waste gate actuator is peaked out at 7.5. Is this happening to anyone else?

I know with my profec spec b, there were 3 different settings you could play with. It took fine tuning of all 3 to get my desired boost curve. I'm assuming the AEM is much the same.

Set the Spr setting lower. It needs to be lower than the stock cracking pressure.

Why don't you list out your settings, there are a couple guys running this with the greddy. I am going to set mine this wed. with my tuner so I don't dork it up. If I think it was set to SP 3.5 and A35 B46, don't hold me to that though.

One thing I noticed is that the instructions don't tell you much. I just now realized that if you hold both buttons just once it lets you adjust your current duty cycle. I had been holding it twice and scrolling all the way to the end to make adjustments. The settings all depend on the car. Generic settings won't help you that much. Everyone's wastegate is set differently so the A and B settings will be slightly different. Just make sure you Spr setting is a little bit lower than your boost pressure with the unit off. The other settings are all a matter of preference. You can also adjust the A and B settings on the fly before setting the unit back to rUn.

Here is how I have it set now. I am going to lower the gAE to 7 and see what happens.

Scramble Boost (SCb)....................10.0 PSI
Scramble Boost Time (SCr)............30 sec
Sensor Selection (SEN)...................Internal
Alarm Setting (ALA)........................8.5 PSI
Wastegate Crack Pressure (gAE).....8.0 PSI
Bar Graph Scale (FUL)....................Enable
Boost Setting A (AXX).....................00 %
Boost Setting B (BXX).....................00 %

7.5PSI with the unit off.

I just tried it out at 6PSI and no surge, 7PSI and it surged again, finally I tried at 6.5 and it quit. So problem solved.

I still am sot sure about the AXX and BXX settings though. I have changed the AXX and BXX to 30% but I did not see a rise in Boost. When I tune the car I will probably shoot for 10PSI. If I am not mistaken when the controller is set to run on programm AXX then it should run the boost solinoid so it bleeds 30% or so of the boost pressure so that the wastegate acutator only sees 8PSI when the true pressure is 10PSI.

It really takes some fooling around to get right, i had to mess with mine for about a week to get it to go to redline at 15psi with out surging and makeing the car freak out, but ive got it now, just set the spring pressure and mess with the a and b from there

Start small and work up 5 at a time. You have to watch the boost gauge to make sure it's not spiking due to weather change.
