Default Aem boost solenoid issue?

Before I start my car (ignition on, but before I start cranking the motor) I can hear the boost solenoid clicking. Is thatnormal? I hear it in the car because it's mounted on the firewall.

Mine does that too.

I spoke with Jeff Evans in regards to this, and he told me it has to do with how it's setup in the AEM.

Basically you need to turn it off, or have it not activated when their is no boost pressure...so in vacuum it wouldn't be working.

Thats a generic explanation...I'll look for my pm from him, and copy/paste the info.

Found it.

As far as the boost solenoid, there is a minimum duty cycle in the software under the basic boost control screen. Its probably set to 10%, which is default. Set it to 0%, and select the duty cycle from 0 psi and below and set to 0% as well. That will make the boost solenoid turn off in vacuum. That does get annoying.

I believe you can set it up to come on at a certain mph. If i remember right, mine doesnt come on until i am over 5 mph.

Where, I don't see it?

Wouldn't that be an issue if you were trying to build boost on a 2step?

Devin Pearce from aem set it up that way when he tuned mine. It means you will be building boost off the wastegate spring only when using a two step setup. I think that should be plenty of boost for off the line but you definitely dont want to run a two step on the stock valve train.

what does the stock valvetrain have to do with a 2step rev limiter?

Its very bad on the stock valves and they cant handle it. It will warp the valves over time and cause any number of them to drop.
