Default AEM EMS vs HKS Fcon VPro

I hear everyone using AEM EMS, but has anybody used the HKS standalone? How do they compare (as far as tuning abilities - aside from finding a tuner).
Or even the Motec units?

I have yet to use either Motec or HKS, but Im guessing either they are more expensive AND/or require much more install work. I honestly see no point using anything else for the S2000 unless you are trying to be emissions compliant, than youd use Greddy E-manage. Just my opinion

One disadvantage (some would think) to the FCON is that only athorized HKS dealers are allowed to tuned them (software not avalible to public). And the Motec is hella expensive. Hydra is one you left out, but for the money (AEM costes about the same) the interface on the software for AEM blows it away. I will be experamenting soon with a very inexpensive EMS, and will let everyone know how it works out.

Thanks for the updates.
Yeah, it seems most stay away from the HKS unit as it's difficult to get tuned, and for the money why reinvent the wheel (AEM EMS).
The HKS unit is $1300. The only authorized Pro Dealer (tuning capable) in the PNW is actually 6 minutes from my home back.. home. So that's no problem. Lets just say Im not sure I'd be the first to pay $1300 for it, but if I can get it for less....

The dealer near me said he has tuned a few cars with this unit and they all came out very well. Well wth does that mean? Probably all Supras with higher tolerances.
If I tuned with AEM EMS, I would drive to Portland, OR and give it to TorqueFreaks.
So now I just need to see how credible this HKS tuner is. Thanks for the input!

yeah, EMS is most user friendly. Fcon V pro blows it away, but does take a tad more patience and knowhow.(someone trained) which a very good friend of mine is. hehe. motec, forget it. thats for the big dogs. lates

I guess I'll bring this thread back to life because I've heard some good things about the HKS FCON V Pro. It has twice the resolution on the fuel and ignition maps (32X32 vs. 16X16). Also, most important, it can send information to the OBD II port. Hmm, did anyone say pass inspection?
